Donnie Darko returns to theaters for 25th anniversary

The cult classic film Donnie Darko is returning to theaters to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Fathom Entertainment has announced a 4K restoration of the movie, which will be screened from October 2 to October 4.

The release dates coincide with October 2, a date recognized by fans as ‘Donnie Darko Day’ because it marks the beginning of the film’s supernatural events. The theatrical screenings will include an exclusive introduction by writer and director Richard Kelly, who will discuss the film’s lasting impact on popular culture.

Originally released in 2001, the sci-fi film stars Jake Gyllenhaal and features a cast including Seth Rogen, Drew Barrymore, Jena Malone, and Patrick Swayze. The story follows a teenager navigating strange, inexplicable occurrences and a mysterious figure known as Frank.
