Donnie McClurkin announces final studio album following near-death experience
Gospel artist Donnie McClurkin has announced that his upcoming project, titled ‘Finally’, will be his final studio album. During a conversation on ‘The Nightly Spirit’ with Darlene McCoy, McClurkin stated he is “hanging this coat up and moving on,” though he is uncertain of his next steps.
McClurkin shared that the recording process was profoundly impacted by a near-death experience. In August 2025, shortly after completing the project, he suffered congestive heart failure in Nashville following the Stellar Awards. He collapsed, flatlined, and remained in a coma for four days after first responders performed chest compressions.
The single from the album, “Lord, I Thank You,” took on deeper significance following his medical emergency. McClurkin noted that the song became “more real to me than ever before,” reflecting on the themes of gratitude expressed during the recording sessions.
