Donostia family faces eviction on housing rights strike day

A family with two minors in the Larratxo neighborhood of Donostia faces an imminent eviction scheduled for November 11. According to the Sindicato Socialista de Vivienda, the date coincides with a planned strike in defense of housing rights.

The union reports that the father suffers from health issues requiring surgery, which has led to precarious employment. They claim that local institutions have failed to provide any housing alternatives despite the family's vulnerability.

In addition to this specific case, the union highlighted broader housing instability in the regions of Larratxo, Altza, and Bidebieta. They reported assisting 29 cases in Altza and Bidebieta this year, affecting 14 minors, involving issues such as abusive clauses, lack of formal contracts, and evictions due to contract expirations.
