Donovan Mitchell pledges support for Cleveland high school sports

Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell has expressed a commitment to supporting local high school athletes in the Cleveland area. Since joining the team in 2022, Mitchell has sought to engage with the community beyond professional basketball.

Mitchell noted that members of the Cavaliers' training staff assist him in identifying significant local sporting events. He has attended local basketball games and recently attended a high school football game, expressing interest in seeing Glenville High School compete in the future.

Mitchell emphasized the importance of professional athletes showing up for youth, stating he wants to ‘flip the script’ and provide the same level of support to young athletes that fans provide to him. He cited an instance where his presence, alongside James Harden, provided a meaningful moment for a young football player, reinforcing his belief in the impact of visibility.
