Don’t Nod announces restructuring amid economic challenges

French video game developer Don’t Nod, known for titles such as ‘Life is Strange’, ‘Vampyr’, and ‘Aphelion’, has announced a transformation project to restructure its operating model. The company cited a deterioration in its key economic indicators and challenging conditions within the video game industry's financing landscape as primary drivers for the decision.

Management has scheduled a meeting with the Social and Economic Committee (CSE) for September 3, 2026, to begin the formal consultation process required for potential collective redundancies. Simultaneously, the studio has entered into negotiations with its representative labor union. The company intends to release further details regarding the transformation plan and its next steps following the close of market trading on September 3.

This announcement follows previous financial difficulties for the studio, including layoffs at its Montreal office in 2025 and a restructuring process in 2024. Recent reports also indicated that the commercial performance of the game ‘Aphelion’ contributed to the studio's current budgetary challenges.
