Don't Nod employees accuse management of illegal practices
Employees of Don't Nod, the developer of the Life is Strange series, have issued a statement through the French game industry union Le Syndicat des Travailleureuses du Jeu Vidéo accusing management of illegal practices. The union reports that the company is currently under a safeguard to protect itself from insolvency.
According to the statement, management presented staff with financial scenarios that include redundancies, with a worst-case projection of company liquidation by 2026. The union alleges that nearly all non-managerial roles have been cut, including animators, artists, programmers, and designers.
The union further claims that management is engaging in illegal individualized targeting by selecting specific people to retain rather than preserving jobs. Additionally, the statement notes that staff have faced extreme uncertainty for two years, citing six workplace accidents this year and a recent inquiry into serious and immediate dangers in the workplace.
