Donyell Malen becomes Europe's top scorer since Roma debut

Dutch forward Donyell Malen has emerged as the most prolific player across Europe's five major leagues since his debut for AS Roma on January 18. After struggling to secure a consistent role at Aston Villa, where he recorded 10 goals and two assists in 46 matches, Malen has undergone a significant career resurgence in Italy.

Since joining Roma, the 27-year-old has recorded 21 goals and three assists in just 25 matches. His scoring efficiency has improved from one goal every 149.8 minutes at Aston Villa to one every 96.7 minutes at Roma. His 20 goals since his Roma debut surpass the recent tallies of other prominent players including Harry Kane, Lamine Yamal, and Bruno Fernandes.

Analysts suggest his success is largely due to a tactical shift and a new role within the Roma system that better utilizes his natural goalscoring instincts.
