Donyell Malen leads AS Roma to top of Serie A

Donyell Malen has made a significant impact at AS Roma, helping the club reach the top of the Serie A standings. The Dutch striker has recorded six goals and one assist early in the season, including a hat-trick against AC Florenza and a brace against Lecce.

Former Inter Milan defender Giuseppe Bergomi praised Malen’s movement and drive, comparing his style to that of Ronaldo Nazário rather than a traditional target man like Erling Haaland. Bergomi noted Malen’s skill in tight spaces and his ability to drive into depth under coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

Former Roma player Kevin Strootman also commented on Malen’s rapid adaptation, noting that while the impact was unexpected, the striker has found confidence and importance within the squad. Strootman highlighted Malen’s quality and spectacular speed as key factors in his success in Italy.
