Donyell Malen named Serie A Player of the Month

Dutch forward Donyell Malen has been named the AIC Player of the Month for September following a prolific start to the 2026/27 Serie A season with AS Roma. Malen has scored six goals in his first five league matches, including a hat-trick against Fiorentina and a brace against Lecce.

After struggling for consistent playing time at Aston Villa in the Premier League, Malen moved to Roma in January. He has since become a central figure in the team's offense under manager Daniele De Rossi. Following his strong performances, AS Roma exercised a €25 million buyout option to secure the attacker on a long-term contract.
