DoorDash reports minimal orders from AI agents

DoorDash CEO Tony Xu stated during a third-quarter earnings call that the company has received only several hundred orders from third-party AI agents, such as Muse, Instinct, and Fo. This figure stands in contrast to the company's daily average of approximately 3 million deliveries.

While users continue to place orders primarily through the official DoorDash app, the company is exploring agentic use cases and potential advertising opportunities within these third-party tools. DoorDash has already launched its own AI features, including a text-to-order agent, a command-line interface agent, and a chatbot named Ask DoorDash.

The broader commerce landscape remains divided on how to handle AI agents. While Amazon has reportedly blocked certain personal agents, Walmart has signaled a more welcoming approach to attract business from competitors.
