Doosan Fuel Cell lands $76 million SOFC stack export deal with German Liberion
Doosan Fuel Cell Co. signed a contract with German energy firm Liberion to supply solid‑oxide fuel‑cell (SOFC) stacks worth about $76 million (≈ 1,087 billion won). The agreement, the largest overseas export in Doosan’s history, represents roughly 24 % of the company’s prior‑year revenue and will see deliveries of the mid‑temperature (≈ 620 °C) stacks through the second half of 2027.
The exported stacks, developed with technology from UK‑based Ceres Power, operate at lower temperatures than traditional SOFCs, offering higher electrical efficiency, durability and broader material choices. Liberion plans to integrate the stacks into next‑generation fuel‑cell systems for green power facilities across Germany and the wider European market. Doosan’s executives highlighted the deal as a springboard for expanding its stack foundry business into North America and Europe, with further sales negotiations already underway.
