DOP Cangas wineries win Gold Medals in Italy

Two wineries from the DOP Cangas region, Las Danzas and Martínez Parrondo, have been awarded Gold Medals at the 34th edition of the Mondial des Vins Extrêmes in Italy, a competition focused on heroic viticulture.

Martínez Parrondo received the award for its Tinto Premium 2024, a limited edition of 666 hand-numbered bottles made from indigenous varieties including carrasquín, albarín negro, and verdejo negro. Las Danzas was honored for its Media Vuelta Carrasquín 2024, marking the winery's third consecutive year of recognition at this competition.

In preparation for the upcoming Fiesta de la Vendimia, Adrián Fernández, president of DOP Cangas, reported a successful harvest of approximately 200,000 kilograms of grapes despite challenges from frost, hail, and drought. The 24th edition of the festival will feature seven of the eight wineries from the protected designation of origin, allowing visitors to interact directly with the producers.
