Doppelmayr Panamá Corp. recommended for Panama cable car project
The evaluation commission has recommended awarding the contract for the Panama and San Miguelito cable car project to Doppelmayr Panamá Corp. The company was the sole bidder in the tender process, submitting a proposal of approximately $268.7 million, close to the $270 million reference price set by Metro de Panamá.
The project involves the design, construction, installation, and operation of a 6.6-kilometer system featuring six stations. It aims to improve connectivity for communities such as Samaria, Mano de Piedra, Valle de Urracá, and Torrijos Carter. The system will integrate with Line 2 of the Panama Metro at the Cincuentenario station, extending to the interconnection between Cincuentenario and España roads.
While the recommendation has been made, the final award is pending the completion of administrative procedures in accordance with public procurement laws. President José Raúl Mulino has noted that the project is expected to revolutionize mobility for thousands of citizens.
