Dora Moneti Faggin wins art commission for Atlético Clube de Portugal tunnel

Visual artist Dora Moneti Faggin has been selected as the winner of an open call launched by the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT) and Atlético Clube de Portugal. Her winning installation, titled ‘Torcidas’, is designed to revitalize the access tunnel to the Tapadinha stadium in Lisbon.

The project features a textile installation over 10 meters long, consisting of satin fabric strips and hand-embroidered boat canvases mounted on metal mesh. The work will cover the ceiling and upper walls of the tunnel, utilizing a color palette of the club’s blue, red, and yellow, blended with orange, purple, and pink tones. The installation is intended to reflect the historical relationship between the Alcântara neighborhood and the club, exploring themes of belonging and diversity.

Scheduled for installation in the spring of 2027, the project will also include a tactile model to allow visually impaired individuals to experience the relationship between the artwork and the tunnel's architecture. The initiative aims to support emerging artists while fostering dialogue between contemporary art, the local community, and public spaces.
