Doraemon and the Underwater Castle to debut in France

The Japanese animation icon Doraemon is set to arrive in French cinemas on October 7, 2026, with the film ‘Doraemon and the Underwater Castle’. Directed by Tetsuo Yajima, this 45th installment in the franchise follows the robotic cat from the 22nd century and his friend Nobita on an underwater adventure involving a mysterious civilization and an underwater castle.

In Japan, the character created by Fujiko F. Fujio is a multi-generational cultural staple, having sold over 300 million manga copies worldwide. Director Tetsuo Yajima notes that the character represents a companion that protects and befriends children, predating modern discussions on artificial intelligence. The French release, distributed by Eurozoom, features a high-quality voice cast and aims to introduce the iconic character to a broader French audience while maintaining cultural and visual fidelity to the original Japanese source material.
