Doraemon movie to make Indian theatrical debut in October
The film ‘Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil’ is set for its first-ever theatrical release in India on October 2, 2026. While the character has been a staple of Indian television for 21 years, this marks the franchise's debut on the big screen in the country.
To support the launch, a comprehensive 360-degree marketing campaign is underway across India, managed by Black White Orange (BWO) with strategic consulting from Happening 365 Synergies. The campaign includes out-of-home advertising on branded buses and auto-rickshaws, digital and radio promotions, school outreach programs, and experiential activities at shopping malls.
The movie will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, including select 4DX screenings for an immersive experience. In Mumbai, a premiere screening was held at Inorbit Mall Malad to build momentum. Additionally, a special tie-in episode titled ‘Namaste! Nobita, Studying Abroad in India’ is scheduled to air on TV Asahi in Japan on November 7 to celebrate the connection between the two countries.
