Doral Councilman Rafael Pineyro alerts Florida senators to immigration raids
Doral City Councilman Rafael Pineyro has issued a formal complaint to Florida's federal congressional delegation regarding mass immigration enforcement operations in South Florida. Pineyro submitted an exhaustive report documenting the social and economic impacts of recent raids in the Miami-Dade area.
The councilman described the current situation as “inhumane,” alleging that enforcement actions are targeting working families and individuals who are actively undergoing legal immigration processes. He stated that these operations disrupt the stability of the local community and affect active employees and family units.
The formal correspondence and report were sent to U.S. Representatives Maria Elvira Salazar, Mario Diaz-Balart, and Carlos Gimenez, as well as Senators Rick Scott and Ashley Moody. Pineyro's initiative aims to pressure federal legislators to address enforcement tactics that he claims violate due process for those attempting to regularize their status in the United States.
