Doraya catheter to enter pivotal heart failure trial in 2027
Following the successful DORAYA-HF feasibility study, Revamp Medical plans to launch a pivotal trial for the Doraya catheter in early 2027. The device is intended for hospitalized patients suffering from acute decompensated heart failure who exhibit volume overload and an inadequate response to intravenous diuretic therapy.
Presented at the Heart Failure Society of America Annual Scientific Meeting, the research highlights the catheter’s mechanism: it is an implantable device deployed percutaneously in the inferior vena cava below the renal veins. By adjusting the distal frame opening to partially obstruct venous flow, the device reduces cardiac preload and congestion, thereby unloading the renal venous system.
Ulrich Jorde, MD, noted that the goal of the upcoming trial is to determine if the device can enable clinically meaningful decongestion, accelerate recovery, and reduce hospital lengths of stay.
