Dordrecht man arrested in €225 million cocaine smuggling case

A man has been arrested in Dordrecht, Netherlands, on suspicion of involvement in smuggling nearly 4,000 kilograms of cocaine. The arrest took place on Friday, September 4, following the discovery of the drugs in containers at the port of Dunkirk, France.

French customs officials reported that the cocaine, valued at approximately 225 million euros, was hidden within plastic waste in a container originating from Ghana. The entire shipment has since been destroyed. French authorities are currently working to identify the criminal network responsible for the shipment, noting that the network was already under investigation by national detectives.

While the Public Prosecution Service has not confirmed it, media reports suggest the cocaine may be linked to the organization of Jos Leijdekkers, known as ‘Bolle Jos,’ and was intended for a business address in Dordrecht. In addition to the smuggling charge, the suspect is also suspected of preparing the import of other cocaine shipments into the Netherlands this year.
