Dordrecht mass rape investigation sparks political outcry

In Dordrecht, Netherlands, an investigation is ongoing following the mass rape and assault of an 18-year-old girl. The incident, which occurred in May 2025, involved approximately ten men, several of whom are of Syrian origin. The victim was reportedly taken to two different parking lots during the attack, where some perpetrators filmed the assault and shared it on Snapchat.

Six suspects, aged between 20 and 23, have been arrested. A preliminary court hearing took place on September 23, 2026, involving a 23-year-old Syrian-born individual identified as S. S., described by prosecutors as a lead perpetrator. Two other suspects arrested recently are relatives of the accused.

The case has drawn sharp political criticism from Geert Wilders, leader of the PVV party, who called for an unprecedented crackdown on what he described as Islamic gangs operating in the Netherlands.
