Dorenbos taxi company faces criticism over transport delays
Drivers and former employees of the taxi company Dorenbos have raised serious concerns regarding the quality of service provided to vulnerable passengers in Friesland, Netherlands. Following the company's acquisition of several taxi firms in the Smallingerland and Súdwest-Fryslân municipalities last summer, local authorities received over 300 complaints within an eight-week period.
Staff members report significant scheduling issues, with some drivers discovering hours of delays immediately upon receiving their daily assignments. One former driver described an incident where a patient recovering from chemotherapy had to wait over two hours past her scheduled pickup time without notification.
In addition to delays, drivers have highlighted safety and maintenance concerns. Internal communications reveal ongoing discussions regarding technical malfunctions in vehicles, including faulty wheelchair locking systems. Despite these reports, staff claim that defective vehicles have occasionally been reassigned to other drivers rather than being repaired.
