Dorian Roldán explains the sale of Lucha Libre AAA to WWE
Dorian Roldán has provided insight into the sale of Lucha Libre AAA to WWE, revealing that discussions between the two organizations began as early as 2010. Roldán explained that the decision was driven by a desire to fulfill the legacy of AAA founder Antonio Peña, who aimed to bring Mexican wrestling to a global audience.
Roldán noted that while the company previously attempted international expansion through partnerships with entities like MGM and Robert Rodriguez, it faced limitations in reaching its full potential. He stated that joining WWE provides access to superior production, design, marketing, and distribution platforms.
According to Roldán, the move allows the brand to reach a worldwide audience by leveraging the scale and business volume of the world’s largest wrestling company, even if it requires stepping back from total brand independence.
