Doris Schröder-Köpf resigns from Lower Saxony State Parliament

Doris Schröder-Köpf, a prominent SPD member of the Lower Saxony State Parliament, has resigned her mandate approximately one year before the next state election. The 63-year-old politician has served in the Landtag since 2013, previously holding roles such as state commissioner for migration and participation and chairing the Interior and Sports Committee.

Reports indicate that her decision to step down is due to personal and health reasons. Schröder-Köpf is also among several SPD members leaving the parliament; René Kopka, Brian Baatzsch, and Oliver Lott are also resigning their mandates to assume mayoral responsibilities in Einbeck, Springe, and Loxstedt, respectively.
