Dorsey High School hosts first athletics reunion

Dorsey High School held its first full athletics reunion, bringing together hundreds of alumni, including members of the 1982 City Section football championship team and the 1976 championship basketball team. The event, organized by former football head coach Paul Knox, aimed to celebrate the school's athletic legacy while introducing current student-athletes to the community.

The reunion comes at a time of significant change for the Los Angeles institution. Enrollment has declined from a peak of 2,211 students in 2002 to 792 students currently. This trend mirrors broader shifts in California, where public school enrollment is decreasing as private and charter schools grow. The event also highlighted campus renovations, including a forthcoming football stadium and a new basketball gym, as the school seeks to regain its former status as an athletic powerhouse.
