Dorsten: Dispute at public book exchange over suspected theft

A confrontation occurred at a public book exchange in Lembeck, Dorsten, involving a 70-year-old local resident, Ralf Rednoß, and two men suspected of scavenging valuable books for resale.

Rednoß observed the two men using smartphones to research the value of books in the community cabinet before selecting approximately 10 to 12 items. The book exchange, located on Schulstraße, is a collaborative project between the city, the parish, and Westenergie.

After Rednoß confronted the individuals and claimed the police were on their way, the men fled the scene in a vehicle originating from the Borken district. A local volunteer caretaker had previously reported that individuals were frequently checking book values via mobile devices rather than participating in the intended exchange system.
