Dorsten donor allocates €10,000 to four local youth projects
A Dorsten resident anonymously contributed €10,000 through the "Dorsten dank(t) Dir" programme. The city administration divided the sum equally among four initiatives supporting children and teenagers.
The local football club FC Rot‑Weiß Dorsten used its €2,500 share to purchase two sport‑wheelchairs, enabling physically‑restricted youngsters to play indoor football. The socio‑cultural centre "Das LEO" in Hervest expanded its fleet with sturdy KettCars, providing mobile play equipment for visitors aged six to over eighteen. The Kinderferienstiftung Dorsten, a foundation aiding disadvantaged families since 1979, will fund holiday and leisure activities for roughly 150 children each year. Finally, the Arbeitskreis Jugend (Youth Working Group) will continue its grant‑making to around 25 youth projects covering sport, democracy, nature and culture.
Mayor Tobias Stockhoff praised the donor, saying, "As a society we can create a framework for children to grow up and experience community, but private engagement is often needed to make it even better."
