Dortmund-Brackel road closure due to suspected WWII unexploded bomb

A road in the Dortmund-Brackel district, specifically Hofgerichtsweg, is facing a multi-week closure due to the suspected presence of an unexploded bomb from World War II. The suspicion arose following an aerial evaluation conducted during planned utility work by Dortmunder Netz GmbH (DONETZ).

Investigation efforts are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 28, with the Kampfmittelbeseitigungsdienst Westfalen-Lippe slated to probe the site on November 9. The closure includes a full blockage of the access to Hofgerichtsweg at the Schöffenweg junction, and partial restrictions on Schöffenweg and local sidewalks. While emergency services will maintain access, motorists and pedestrians should expect significant disruptions for approximately five weeks, with a target reopening date of December 4.
