Dorsten implements heat protection and new children's city map
The city of Dorsten is implementing several community-focused initiatives. As part of its heat protection strategy, the city plans to install a second drinking water fountain, following the successful launch of a fountain at the Bürgerbahnhof in early 2025.
Additionally, the city has released a new, free children's city map. The foldable map identifies over 300 locations across eleven districts, including playgrounds, sports facilities, and daycare centers. The project was developed through direct child participation, utilizing ideas from a children's conference and a digital engagement campaign. Mayor Tobias Stockhoff noted that the initiative aims to take children's ideas seriously and make them visible within the city's planning processes. The maps will be distributed to local schools at the start of the new school year and are also available online.
