Dorsten libraries to close for software transition
The Stadtbibliothek Dorsten and the Bibi am See in Wulfen will undergo a temporary closure from October 19 to November 9, 2026, to facilitate a software transition.
The libraries are replacing their current Bibliotheca Next system with WinBiAP software from the company Datronic. During this period, on-site borrowing and returns, external returns, and access to the online catalog (OPAC) will be unavailable. To assist users, loan periods will be adjusted to account for the closure.
Following the update, the libraries will introduce several new digital features, including an enhanced online catalog with improved search and filter options, a digital library card accessible via an app, and the ability to borrow media directly using a smartphone. Despite the closure of physical services, all previously scheduled events will proceed as planned.
