Dorsten receives award for youth participation concept

The city of Dorsten has been honored with the ‘Gute Bürgerbeteiligung’ (Good Citizen Participation) award in Berlin. This marks the first time the award has included a specific category dedicated to successful child and youth participation.

The recognized concept integrates various forms of engagement, including representative participation through child mayors, an open children's conference, and digital platforms that allow all children to submit their own ideas. Eden Fähnrich-Winkel, head of the Child and Youth Promotion Department, accepted the award on behalf of the city, noting that the goal is to ensure children experience that their ideas are heard, reviewed, and implemented whenever possible.
