Dortmund and Datteln hold summer festivals in early July

On July 11, 2026 the Nordstadt Together harbour festival took place at the Dortmund harbour. Hundreds of visitors enjoyed live music, free boat trips on the Santa Monica, a mini‑Olympics and other family‑friendly activities. The event was opened by Dortmund’s mayor Alexander Kalouti and featured performances by the Tanzorchester Schmidt, Nido, and the local band Walking on Rivers.

The following day, July 12, 2026, the town of Datteln hosted its ninth Fest der Kulturen on the Neumarkt. The programme included bagpipe music by Brigadoon PD, dance groups such as the Irish‑dance troupe Rince na Croy, a children’s rally with stamp‑collecting games, and a range of food stalls offering Turkish, Mediterranean and local specialties. Numerous community organisations – the German Red Cross, Rotary Club, Caritas and others – participated, and the organisers reported high attendance across generations.
