Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund set Revierderby dates for 2026/27 season
The Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) announced the dates of the Revierderby between FC Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund ahead of the full Bundesliga schedule. The first meeting will be held at the Veltins‑Arena in Gelsenkirchen on the 12th matchday (4–6 December 2026) and the return leg at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund on the 29th matchday (9–11 April 2027). The information was revealed through the “Bundesliga City Challenge”, in which envelopes with the match data were hidden in the two cities for fans to find.
Schalke 04 is also undergoing a major squad overhaul after its promotion. The club confirmed several player departures, including the loan of striker Peter Remmert to MSV Duisburg, defender Tim Dietrich moving to Preußen Münster, and multiple other loans and contract expirations. At the same time, the club secured a contract extension for midfielder Soufiane El‑Faouzi through 2030 and appointed former captain Danny Latza as U14 co‑trainer. Veteran U19 coach Norbert Elgert celebrated 30 years with the club and discussed his future role.
