Dortmund assault: Suspect arrested in Switzerland after TV tip

Police have arrested a 42-year-old man in Switzerland in connection with a life-threatening assault that occurred in Dortmund, Germany, in November 2025. The breakthrough follows the broadcast of the case on the television program ‘Aktenzeichen XY… Ungelöst’, which prompted an anonymous tip and several other leads.

The incident began after a dispute in a pub in the Kirchlinde district regarding the historical origins of the Celts versus the Albanian people. The victim, a 51-year-old man, suffered severe head injuries outside the establishment and has remained partially paralyzed and in need of constant care since the attack. The suspect has been transferred from Switzerland to Germany, and investigations by the prosecutor's office are ongoing.
