Dortmund experiences series of vandalism and arson incidents
A series of vandalism and arson attacks has targeted an allotment garden association in Dortmund, Germany. Most recently, unknown perpetrators smashed the glass panes of a public book cabinet located near the Karl-Liebknecht-Straße subway station. Members of the Schrebergartenverein 1906 had to empty the cabinet to protect the books from the elements.
This incident follows a string of suspected arson attacks at the facility on Märkische Straße. Association chairman Ulrich Winden reported seven instances of arson in recent weeks, including the destruction of furniture at the clubhouse, a playhouse, a greenhouse, and a garden hut. Winden suspects the same group of individuals is responsible for both the fires and the destruction of the book cabinet.
