Germany and Switzerland report multiple residential fires and arson investigations

Multiple residential fires and legal developments have been reported across Germany and Switzerland. In Germany, several incidents occurred, including a gas stove fire in Dortmund, a lightning-strike-related roof fire in Lensahn, and a kitchen fire in Nordhausen caused by a resident falling asleep while using a microwave. In Kassel, a stroller fire in a high-rise led to three residents being treated for smoke inhalation.

Authorities are investigating potential arson in several locations. In Ersingen, police suspect a garden hut was intentionally set on fire, following a series of fires in Neulingen-Bauschlott where three suspects, including minors, were identified. In Leipzig, investigators are also looking into suspected arson following a basement fire.

In Switzerland, a car fire in Menzingen was contained by firefighters to prevent it from spreading to a nearby house, and a kitchen fire in Schaffhausen resulted in eleven people suffering minor smoke inhalation.

In a separate legal matter in Cologne, the Landgericht ruled that a 91-year-old woman must vacate her apartment after 53 years to make way for a luxury redevelopment project by the real estate company Start Living.
