Gosen-Neu Zittau school attack leaves two dead

Two people were killed during a violent attack at the Docemus private school campus in Gosen-Neu Zittau, Brandenburg. The victims have been identified as an 18-year-old female student and a 30-year-old male educator who reportedly attempted to intervene during the incident.

A 19-year-old German man has been arrested in connection with the killings. Preliminary police investigations suggest the attack was a relationship-related crime rather than a mass shooting or random rampage. Reports indicate the suspect may have been the ex-boyfriend of the female student. It has also been noted that the suspect had previously been under investigation for incitement to hatred, though that case had been dismissed.

In response to the tragedy, regular classes at the school have been suspended, though the campus remains open as a space for mourning and psychological support. Emergency psychological teams and crisis counselors have been deployed to assist students, teachers, and families. Brandenburg's state leadership has condemned the act, with the President of the State Parliament describing it as a ‘cowardly femicide.’
