Dortmund promotes local music scene through vinyl and live performances
Dortmund is strengthening its musical identity through new cultural initiatives. The “VINYLSTADT DORTMUND” campaign aims to highlight the city’s vibrant record store scene, which includes ten independently owned shops specializing in used vinyl. To support this, a pop-up store called “VINYL BUS STATION” will operate at Kaiserstraße 88 from September 12 until December 19. The initiative is supported by DORTMUND KREATIV, a department dedicated to the city's creative economy.
Additionally, the “Dortmund Unplugged” concert series continues to promote local talent. As part of the “Langen August” event, the series features acoustic performances by local singer-songwriters to foster connections between artists and the community. Upcoming performers scheduled for September 11, 2026, include the indie-pop duo Karlskrona, Isabel Nolte, and Lukas Berchner.
