Dortmund prosecutors investigate 105-year-old former Nazi camp guard
The Dortmund Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against a 105-year-old former guard from the Stalag 326 VI K Senne prisoner-of-war camp. The individual is accused of being an accessory to multiple murders committed during the Nazi era.
Stalag 326 VI K Senne, located in North Rhine-Westphalia, was liberated by the US Army on April 2, 1945. Historical records indicate that between 180,000 and 200,000 prisoners of war passed through the camp, including individuals from the Soviet Union, France, Poland, Serbia, Italy, and Belgium. Many prisoners were subjected to forced labor in nearby businesses and did not survive.
The investigation was initiated by the Central Office of the State Justice Administrations for the Investigation of and Prosecution of Nazi Crimes in Ludwigsburg. This case follows a legal precedent where working in a Nazi camp is increasingly viewed as aiding mass murder, regardless of whether direct participation in killings can be proven.
