Dory Funk Jr. legacy honored following death of wrestling legend

The professional wrestling community is mourning the death of Dory Funk Jr., a legendary figure whose career spanned over 60 years. WWE Hall of Famer John 'Bradshaw' Layfield (JBL) reflected on Funk Jr.'s immense legacy, noting that while he was an exceptional trainer through the Funking Conservatory, he should primarily be remembered for his historic NWA World Heavyweight Championship reign from 1969 to 1973.

Funk Jr. was a prominent representative of the National Wrestling Alliance during an era of territorial wrestling in the United States. He also achieved significant international recognition, particularly in Japan, where his work contributed to the growth of puroresu. His final professional bout took place in 2024 in Japan alongside Osamu Nishimura.
