Dos de Mayo authorities seize illegal native wood shipment

A man was caught illegally extracting native wood from a private property in Dos de Mayo, Misiones. Following a report from the landowner, the National Gendarmería conducted a search operation that led to the discovery of a truck being loaded with large logs.

The individual was unable to provide the necessary permits for the extraction. Authorities from the Ministry of Ecology and Renewable Natural Resources intervened to measure and classify the timber. The seized cargo consisted of 20 logs of rabo itá (Lonchocarpus leucanthus), totaling 18.5 cubic meters. The vehicle and the wood were confiscated, and the case has been referred to the justice system for investigation under provincial environmental laws.
