Dos Pueblos High School wins WaterWise video contest

Dos Pueblos High School has been named the first-place winner of the 27th Annual WaterWise High School Video Contest. The competition, organized by the Santa Barbara County Water Agency, challenged students to create 30-second educational videos focused on the theme ‘Grow Beyond the Grass: Replace your Lawn to Save Water, Support Nature, and Keep Yards Cool’.

In total, 26 students from six county schools submitted 11 videos. Dos Pueblos High School secured multiple honors, including first place in English for ‘Smart Lawns, Smart Future’, first place in Spanish for ‘A Monster Thirsty for Your Lawn’, and third place for ‘Let’s Talk Water’. The latter also received the People’s Choice Award via YouTube. Valley Christian Academy earned second place with the video ‘My Lawn Drinks More Than I Do’.

The contest aims to promote water use efficiency and sustainable outdoor water use within Santa Barbara County. Monetary prizes for the winning schools are provided by the Water Agency and local water providers, with additional student awards sponsored by private sector partners including Carollo Engineers and Geosyntec Consultants.
