DOSD Meram celebrates three years of supporting individuals with Down syndrome
The Meram Down Syndrome Life Support Center (DOSD Meram) in Konya, Turkey, has marked its third anniversary of operation. Established through the leadership of Meram Municipality in collaboration with Necmettin Erbakan University and the Konya Provincial Directorate of National Education, the center has grown from serving 21 students to more than 220.
The facility provides a wide range of services, including special education, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and vocational training. The program aims to foster independence in individuals with Down syndrome by teaching daily living skills, self-care, and social interaction.
Meram Mayor Mustafa Kavuş emphasized that the center focuses on preparing children for life by teaching them to meet their own needs independently. DOSD Meram Association President Mehmet Munlafalıoğlu noted that the center offers customized education models for various age groups, from infants to adults, and provides 100% scholarships to families in need.
