Dosquebradas launches 3.8 trillion peso reconstruction plan after earthquake

The municipality of Dosquebradas is advancing reconstruction efforts following a major earthquake on August 10. The local government has presented a Specific Action Plan (PAE) valued at 3.8 trillion pesos, which includes 12 strategic lines and over 20 projects focused on housing, infrastructure, education, public services, and economic reactivation.

To support these efforts, the Secretariat of Planning is implementing an exceptional adjustment to the Land Management Plan (POT). This urban planning update aims to address the crisis by incorporating safe soil zones, additional buildability, urban renewal, and the legalization of settlements affected by the disaster.

The scale of the emergency is significant, with reports indicating approximately 12,000 affected families and thousands of uninhabitable or destroyed homes. Local officials are calling for support from the national government, the private sector, and international cooperation to facilitate the recovery of the region.
