Dosquebradas mayor hikes union welfare budget by 69%

The municipal government of Dosquebradas, led by Mayor Roberto Jiménez Naranjo, announced an increase of 69.48% in spending for union‑related welfare programmes, allocating more than 2 billion Colombian pesos between 2024 and early 2026. The budget rise follows collective agreements with unions such as ANDETT, SINTRENAL, SINTRAMUNICIPIO, SER and SINTRAEMDOS and exceeds the roughly 1 billion pesos assigned in 2021‑2023. Annual allocations are 764 million pesos for 2024, 987 million for 2025 and 295 million for the year‑to‑date 2026.

Funds support health, recreation and education initiatives for public servants, including Bodytech fitness programmes for 18 employees, subsidies for glasses, home‑care medical services and disability allowances up to 33 % of salary. The programme also finances scholarships for 157 staff members covering technical, professional and master’s studies. José Gabriel Jaramillo Agudelo, director of Human Talent, said the effort reinforces dialogue, labor rights and compliance with collective agreements.
