Dosquebradas mobilizes volunteers and aid one week after earthquake

One week after a major earthquake, the city of Dosquebradas is mobilizing recovery efforts through humanitarian aid, infrastructure assessment, and volunteer recruitment. The local government has reported that 1,167 families have been censused, nearly 1,390 engineering inspections have been conducted, and approximately 6,000 humanitarian aid packages and 40,000 medical supplies have been distributed.

The Mayor's Office has issued a call for volunteers to support various recovery sectors. Required professionals include civil and structural engineers, architects, structural pathologists, veterinarians, and drone pilots with equipment. Additionally, the city is seeking laborers and individuals over 18 to assist with field surveys and data collection.

Emergency response efforts are currently focused on several fronts: conducting censuses of critical buildings, animal rescue operations using technology, managing shelters, providing medical assistance in coordination with the Civil Defense and the Presidency, and beginning the reconstruction process.
