Dostoevsky monument finds temporary location in Dresden

The bronze monument dedicated to Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky has been relocated to a temporary site in Dresden. The statue, owned by the German-Russian Cultural Institute (DRKI), was removed from its original location on the Ostra-Ufer in June 2025 to protect it from potential damage during the expansion of the Saxon State Parliament.

Following a period of uncertainty and negotiations regarding its whereabouts, the monument will be re-erected next to the Russian Orthodox Church in Dresden's southern suburbs. The reinstallation is scheduled for August 29. The statue is expected to remain at this interim location until the construction work on the state parliament is completed, which is projected for 2031.
