Dotun Oladipo, veteran journalist and Eagle Online publisher, dies at 56

Veteran journalist and media entrepreneur Dotun Oladipo has passed away at the age of 56. Oladipo was the founder and publisher of The Eagle Online and served as the President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) from 2017 to 2021.

His career spanned nearly three decades, including roles at the Nigerian Tribune, Punch Newspapers, and The Sun. He was also the pioneer president of the Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multipurpose Society (IMPCMS).

Prominent figures, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and various media organizations, have issued tributes praising his commitment to ethical journalism and his role in developing Nigeria’s online publishing industry. Funeral arrangements have been set for September 10 and 11, 2026, at DayStar Church in Ikeja.
