Douala and Jarny implement new road safety and traffic enforcement measures

In Douala, Cameroon, the Communauté urbaine has launched an operation to control and sensitize motorcycle taxi and tricycle drivers. Starting October 15, the initiative aims to improve road safety and urban mobility in the economic capital. Enforcement teams, including municipal police and representatives from motorcycle organizations, are checking for compliance with traffic lights, the use of helmets, and the wearing of regulatory identification vests. Drivers are also being inspected for proper vehicle equipment, such as functional rearview mirrors and turn signals.

In Jarny, France, local authorities have deployed a mobile pedagogical radar to address resident concerns regarding speeding. The device travels through different neighborhoods to collect data on vehicle speeds and daily traffic volumes. Mayor Olivier Tritz stated that the data collected will be analyzed to determine if permanent infrastructure changes, such as speed bumps or traffic calming measures, are necessary for specific sites.
