Édouard Louis novel promotion scheduled in Podgorica

The promotion of the novel ‘Monique s’évade’ (Monik bježi) by prominent French author Édouard Louis will take place at the Dodest hall of the Budo Tomović Cultural and Information Center in Podgorica.

This publication marks the first translation of Louis's work into the Montenegrin language, as his previous works were primarily translated into Croatian and Serbian. The event will feature speakers Varja Đukić from the publisher Sibila d.o.o. (Karver Bookstore) and translator Prof. Dr. Jasna Tatar Anđelić. A subtitled video interview with the author will also be presented.

The novel is an autobiographical narrative focusing on a mother's attempt to escape a violent and restrictive environment, exploring themes of gender roles, class, and emancipation. The publication was supported by the French Institute, the French Embassy in Montenegro, the Ministry of Culture and Media, and the NGO Spectra Association.
