Édouard Philippe outlines presidential campaign proposals

Édouard Philippe, the Horizons party candidate for the French presidency, outlined several key policy proposals during his appearance on the revived France Télévisions program ‘L'Heure de vérité’.

Regarding immigration, Philippe expressed a desire to reduce legal immigration by half. His economic platform includes a mantra of increased labor, suggesting that social security contributions should be waived for employees who agree to work longer. He also proposed a pension reform that would gradually increase the legal retirement age to 65 and the contribution period to 45 years, with one-third of employees receiving exemptions.

On family policy, Philippe proposed a total overhaul of the family allowance system to support families starting from the first child. For the middle class, he suggested a tax reduction of approximately 3,000 euros for the three years following the birth of a child. Philippe emphasized a pragmatic approach, stating that ‘magic money does not exist’ and positioning himself as a leader who would provide stability to the country.
